Julian James Pedro Ximenes: Blend No. 2

This vineyard, owned by the Roe family, formerly of Sandalford, was planted in 1900 and is one of the great 'Treasures of the Swan'.

My Father worked there as a 15 year old after his Father’s sudden passing in 1945. As my Father continued winemaking a few years later, he wasn’t to know that he would be purchasing this fruit and producing some of his finest fortified wines.

50 years on and I continue to make the most wonderful Liqueurs from this Century Old Vineyard.

In the beginning, variations of styles were created from this fruit. Sherries both Dry and Sweet, and on select years, the most amazing Liqueurs. It is these Vintages from 1965 onwards that were selected for blending to ultimately create this aged Pedro Ximenes Liqueur.
Like the Muscat, this Pedro Ximenes is fortified with grape spirit and aged brandy then transferred to Old Brandy Casks for further maturation and blending.

It truly is such a pleasure to see almost a lifetime of work finally bottled.

This is our first Liqueur release where 100% of the fruit is Pedro Ximenes grown on this 1900 Vineyard.
Notes: This superb Liqueur is one of our finest wines. Burnt toffee, raisin and caramel on a multi-layered palate. Left in the glass to open up a little, you begin to pick up figs and chocolate with an almost seductive finish.
